Welcome to Macdolly Cocker Spaniels
At Macdolly we have been exhibiting Solid English Cockers since 1987 & our first litter was born in 1989. To date we have bred many Champions and Best in Show Winners and we have imported from Denmark, France, and New Zealand to compliment our bloodlines, and later in 2010 we are again importing, this time from the UK.
We have had many firsts in the breed - the first GOLD Grand Champion in the breed (GRAND CHAMPION MACDOLLY A XMAS KRACKER), the youngest Grand Champion in the breed (GRAND CHAMPION MACDOLLY AUGUSTUSLEONART), the first undocked Cocker to win a BEST IN SHOW ALL BREEDS in the country - (CH SHEERCLEVER NOTHING ELSE MATTERS (imp Denmark), the first undocked Grand Champion in the breed GRAND CHAMPION JYNDEL AS GOOD AS IT GETS, winning the first Cocker Spaniel Club of Qld INC Cocker of the Year in 1996 with CH MACDOLLY KEEP THE FAITH. We were also the first to qualify a Cocker Spaniel for both PAL Puppy of the Year and Dog of the Year Final - with CH MACDOLLY OSTENTATIOUS, winning Best in Show from Puppy Class at a qualifying show ..... just some of our great memories.
We have enjoyed many great wins over the years with many dogs that have touched our hearts. Some we have had the fortune to have bred ourselves, some were owned or campaigned by us and some were descendants of dogs we have bred. We have had misfortune as well, but that is part of life.
Until June 2008 our show team was lead by our black girl, BISS GR CH JYNDEL AS GOOD AS IT GETS (Specialty BIS Winner, Royal CC Winner). Dimity left our shores bound for Denmark in the care of our amazing friend, Tuija, at Kennel Sheerclever. Dimity was shown alongside our beautiful 'Luby' CH MACDOLLY ALL OR NOTHING - 'Luby' now likes nothing more than to relax with Paul and Belinda so the show reins here in Brisbane is now left to our youngsters.
Our show team was very small from then on, and through 2008 until mid 2009, our team was basically just two - but who needs quantity when you have quality and we were thrilled with their early successes. Our Bunny daughter,CH LAMORNA PON DE REPLAY 'Ivy' - mulit IN SHOW winner - and ended up being a multi Best in Group and Reserve in Group winner - and battled out her wins alongside her best friend - our stunning daughter of Gr Ch Royoni Hes True Blue and our own CH MACDOLLY OBSESSION. Our lovely black girl, 'Reba' CH MACDOLLY IRREPLACEABLE made limited appearances through the baby class, but really showed us her potential through minor - with multi CC's and Reserve CC's plus In Group and In Show awards. On the day she turned 8 months she took out Reserve in Group (BIG2) and went on to Aust Bred in Show over multi BIS winners - she went from strength to strength - but sadly had a setback in the ring with an unthoughtful exhibitor taking pleasure in 'running too close to her' on several occasions, and sadly Reba hates to show.........so we show her infrequently, but she still wins - and we feel sad every time, because if only she had the confidence in the ring that she has at home, we know that she would be well on the way to her Grand Championship title - conformation wise she is probably the best Cocker we have ever bred !!!
In July 2009 we stepped into the Australian Show Ring with our FABULOUS import from Kennel Merrily in France - what a find and we are thrilled with CH BERGERAC OF MERRILY (imp France) - titled in just 9 days and from VERY LIMITED OUTINGS 3 x Best Exhibit in Group - this follows on from his success in Europe including a BISS and a RUBISS prior to leaving for Australia. Froggy certainly doesnt like the Australian heat - so we dont show him now - he has nothing to prove and he is our very very beloved boy, and comes to the shows with us, to now watch his kids from the sidelines. For those who like to gossip about this dog he is not shown because he HATES THE HEAT - and why show such a wonderful dog and have him beaten because he refuses to 'fly' in the Australian weather. So after being shown in Australia for just 4 months he is retired and having fun making babies.
In 2010 we started to show our lovely CH MACDOLLY IRREPLACEABLE, limited outings but now she is joined by her daughter, her confidence is growing. We also infrequently bring out our blue roan youngster, MACDOLLY ONE NIGHT ONLY - hoping that one day she might grow some coat.
I am also so very proud to be campaigning BIS CH MACDOLLY DRESSED TO THE NINES, a black son of LubyLoo, for his owner Debbie Masson and in three short months we have had a great ride with 1 x BIS All Breeds, 5 Best in Groups and 2 Reserve in Groups and he is just starting to show his full potential.
In April 2010 we also began to show our Froggy and Reba's black daughter, MACDOLLY CEST LA VIE = from the first litter born by Frog in Australia - keep an eye on her she is going to turn some heads we ae sure. We also send best wishes to Sydney - her litter brother is owned and exhibited by Jacqueline Gardener and we wish MACDOLLY FAIT ACCOMPLI all the very best of luck !!
Our extended show team in Far North Queensland is headed by Denise and Chelsea Burke of Monabecca Kennels. Denise and Chelsea are exhibiting RUBIS CH MACDOLLY LIVE ACTION, a blue roan boy BIS CH MACDOLLY MAKE MINE BLUE and have a team of top winning girls who battle it out each show. The lovely 'Tilly' CH MACDOLLY IRRESISTABLE, the unstoppable Mousie, CH MACDOLLY CANT GET U OUTTA MY HEAD, and now a Froggy daughter, GREYTHORN LA VIE EN ROSE and a Comet daughter, LAMORNA SHOOTING STAR join the lineup in FNQ in 2010 - and it looks like another promising year for the FNQ Macdolly team - thank you so much Denise.
Over in New Zealand Robbie and Rhona DeBoyer are making their mark with their lovely black girl New Zealand Champion MACDOLLY INTUITION, who made up her title with ease with many best of Breeds along the way and also a Junior in Show award to her credit - and of course, many reserve CC's. She now has a litter of hopefuls from our Froggy - with a couple who will hopefully make the grade to be shown in 2010..
Unlike many other breeders, here at Macdolly we do not have kennels - our numbers are very low (at present we have three Cockers only with us) and all kept in show coat and in the show ring on a regular basis. Here in Australia we have the ability to be able to attend a show within a 2 to 3 hour radius of our home almost every Saturday and Sunday without fail, and many Friday's have shows as well. Our dogs all live in the house, sleep on the bed and are thoroughly spoilt rotten - as all Cocker Spaniels (and Vizslas) should be.
It is also interesting to note that we are breeders that sell winners to others - MANY of the dogs that carry the Macdolly prefix are owned by others - and have made up their titles - many in fine style ! We pride ourselves on being inclusive - our bloodlines arent our own so we do not protect them as such - we health test, and breed infrequently, and from almost every litter we have made sure that at least one has made the showring - otherwise what is the point in breeding. We stand our dogs at stud as well (unlike many other breeders) at affordable costs. We love this breed and want to share the virtues of the breed with all we can.
We also breed limited numbers of litters and if you look at our breeding you will see many of our litters produce not just one, but 2, 3 or even 4 Champions - we are select in our breeding and know the type we strive to achieve and we are so proud of our success - not just for us but for all the other Macdolly owners.
All our dogs are prepared exclusively in PLUSH PUPPY products. Our dogs are conditioned on PEDIGREE ADVANCE - our small show team is proudly sponsored and supported by PEDIGREE and we are very proud ADVANCE AMBASSADORS.
The combination of leading edge dog food and coat preparation products keeps our small show team in the winners circle. Thank you Pedigree and Plush Puppy. We use and recommend PEDIGREE ADVANCE PET FOODS - our dogs excel on this leading edge food. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require more information about PEDIGREE and the products we recommend.
We do not breed very often, and when we do have a litter, it is only because we wish to keep something for ourselves, or we plan a mating to produce a show prospect for one of the people on our waiting list. We are however, very realistic, and not every litter produces a show prospect, and we always have puppies from our litters for sale to kind and caring pet/companion homes. However, we do only sell to people who will allow their Cocker to live inside and be part of the family. If you are not prepared to do that, then a Macdolly Cocker Spaniel is not for you.
I hope you enjoy your visit to our website today. Our huge thanks to Paul and Belinda Vesey-Brown for designing and hosting this labour of love.
