About Us
Macdolly is a small, select kennel situated in Brisbane, Australia specialising in Solids. We have been exhibiting since 1987 and our first litter was born in 1989. Our kennel name Macdolly is also registered with the NZKC and our first NZ Macdolly litter was born in November 2009.
Our first litter produced two Champions and our success has continued from there. We are very proud of the success we have enjoyed in the ring.
Although we do not currently own all the dogs that appear on this website, all of them were either bred by us, or owned or campaigned by us, at some point in time. Their achievements have been the backbone of our success.
We extend our gratitude to all of those people who have taken a Macdolly Cocker into their hearts and homes as beloved pets - they are our real success stories. In November 2000, we ventured into Particolours with the arrival of our first blue roan bitch. We breed and exhibit parti colours infrequently, choosing to concentrate on our aim to bred and exhibit quality solid bred, solid Cocker Spaniels. We do however, have a passion for the breed in all colours, and although solids have stolen our hearts, our dabbling with parti-colours will continue infrequently in the years to come.You can read more about our history here.
The People of Macdolly
Terri Davies is the registered owner of the kennel name Macdolly. Terri has been involved in the breed since 1987 and has enjoyed envious success at all levels in the showring. None of this success could have occured without the amazing support and friendship with several key people over the years. Terri breeds, prepares and presents the dogs of Macdolly in the showrings in Brisbane, QLD. Of course, you can never take just one Cocker to a show so you will find her in the ring or ringside with the VIP's of Macdolly.
Heath Thomson is Terri's long term partner and has a keen interest in the breeding and showing - holding his own Kennel Prefix for the Hungarian Vizslas that share our lives. Heath's work in the hospitality industry has seen him unable to attend shows with any regularity in the past five years but 2010 will see him return to the show rings and the weekend circuits - just in time to assist with the growing show team of Cockers - and introducing our new Vizla, Erdos Fire Within..
AND THE VIP's
Denise and Chelsea Burke living 1 hour north of Cairns, they are the extended Macdolly Show Team. Denise (and Chelsea occassionally) are campaigning Macdolly dogs to the highest levels in FNQ - making up Champions and winning multi Best in Group, Reserve in Group and In Show awards, and more recently they joined the elite winning Best in Show. Denise has registered her own prefix of Monabecca, but we are collaborating under the Macdolly prefix and we hope to have many more Macdolly's to share the limelight with Denise. I could not imagine playing the dog show game without Denise now - not only do we share a common love for the breed - but we are the bestest of friends, never a cross word said, and her daughter Chelsea is the daughter that I never had. Thank you Denise and Chelsea - I must have done something right to have you sent into my life !!!
In New Zealand we have transferred the Macdolly kennel name to be owned by Terri Davies, Robert and Rhona DeBoyer. Our first Macdolly New Zealand litter was born in 2009 - from NZ Ch Macdolly Intuition and Ch Bergerac of Merrily (imp France), a happy and healthy litter obtained via the science of frozen semen insemination.
Tuija Kaipainen of Sheerclever Kennels in Denmark is our overseas 'collaborator' - firstly by allowing us the pleasure of acquiring both Strudel and AC. Secondly, by inviting me to be part of her family, being godmother to her beautiful daughter, Andrea and now by hosting our GRAND CHAMPION Jyndel As Good As It Gets - to achieved all plus more in the show ring here in Australia, and we have sent her to Europe to allow us the pleasure of acquiring some new bloodlines in her new career in the whelping box.
